The Kern Family

Without further ado (because goodness knows there's been a lot of that lately!), I give you...

The Kern Family!

Actually, this is still just a sample album. Like all of my portrait sessions, there are many many more photos they'll be getting, but these are some of my favorites. :)

Kern Family Sneak Peeks!

Last week, I took some photos for the Kern Family. Unfortunately almost all of our natural daylight was gone, but we managed to get some great shots before it got completely dark! One thing's for sure: Robi and Sunny are two of the cutest kids EVER, and Rob and Carey are a total hoot! (And I was only there for about an hour!!)

These are just a few of my favorites before I have the rest finished--it's been a busy weekend!!

Not your typical "tourist in DC" shot...

While I'm continuing to sift through this past week's workload, I thought I'd post a photo that was taken over the summer. Four of my sisters and I went trekking across the US for a two week roadtrip! It was awesome. To put it mildly. ;) I took several thousand photos of our adventures, but you can see a small sampling of them here!

And now, one of my favorite shots from the whole trip...

Business Hiccups

Happy Belated Family Day to all of you fellow Canadians!! :D If I'm not mistaken, this is the second year since this holiday was invented, and in my opinion, as one of my young cousins likes to say, "It's so a genius." I love it. Who doesn't love having another holiday that gets you away from the work routine and back home spending time with loved ones?

Of course, this year's Family Day was spent a little differently than (I hope) future ones will be spent... my family (there are 14 of us) spent the entirety of the long weekend moving three households' worth of belongings into a new house!

It's technically not a "new house"... in fact, in all of our family adventures in which we've moved an average of once per year in my lifetime, we somehow always end up back in this house. It's over 100 years old and was built for the mayor of our city. My grandparents bought it when my dad was a toddler and raised their eight children there. As the surrounding orchards came down and apartment buildings went up around it, somehow that lovely piece of property remained untouched. It was eventually converted into three separate living spaces, and my family occupied one of the smaller apartments at various times. As kids, we were connected to Grandma and Grandpa by only a walkway through the basement––that made for some great memories, let me tell you!

To make a long (and sentimental) story short, my family had taken over the larger half of the house a few years ago, only to have to move because of electrical problems. The house has since been under massive renovations, and while it doesn't look like it's improved much (it still looks well over 100 years old!), were not having electrical fires and floods any more! (w00t!)

And so... this past holiday weekend, we moved back in. With our much larger amount of stuff that we had (to our horror) had somehow accumulated in the year and a half we were gone. :P

I'm pretty sure the point of this post was to say that I've been offline, out of the routine a bit, and will be while we continue to unpack and get settled, but I'm hoping to be back to the grindstone within the week! (I'd better be... I've got two shoots coming up this week!)

Gerry & Stella [E.Session]

What a surprise this last weekend's weather was!! I had planned to meet Gerry and Stella at Globo Shoes where they first met (they both worked there), and then do some fun shots inside the mall before heading off to another location. When I got there however (coatless, mind you), they had been talking and asked if we could rather head down to the river front to do some outside shots instead! We'd been counting on cold, snowy or rainy weather, but instead had sunshine, no wind, and spring temps!! (Almost. Anything above freezing after this long winter seems like spring. ;)

So off we went!
